Thank you, Xan! I really enjoy working bigger occasionally. Right now I am really in the mood to go big, but I’m having a hard time deciding what to paint, since there are so many things I want to paint… Oh, and yes, this is La Grande. I got a bunch of new photos to work from on our trip over there last weekend, so there will be more La Grande paintings to come. It’s a beautiful place.

My eyes literally popped open wider when I saw this one! My next thought was, “Is this La Grande?” This is wonderful. I like how the bigger format has given you the opportunity to expand on the various themes.

I really like this! All the warm, sunlight-filled atmosphere, and the somewhat beseeching gaze of the kitty … Nice. It’s like your oranges are filling the atmosphere with their soft orange breath.

Jessie, I like this one just as it is! It’s very engaging: what am I seeing? A peeled orange (tangerine?) in a landscape? Is that a sail on the horizon? Am I seeing underground (in the bottom of the field)? The citrus has such a neat glow, is more realized than the “landscape”, like a dream. A simple scene transformed to cloudy symbolism.
