Heath brought me a big bouquet a couple days ago, just to be nice! Here they are in a square glass vase, sitting in my window above a red apple.

Info about the paintings in the “A Painting A Day” project:

Each day I paint, but about every other day I finish a painting. Most days I paint still-lifes (fruit, flowers, toys), but some days I paint people or go out for plein air landscape painting, or work on a larger studio painting. I try to capture the light effects, the color harmony, and the feeling and weight or substance of the things I paint, rather than the details. My style has been described as impressionistic, colorful, serene and sometimes whimsical.

I do my best to take good photos, but the color may look a little different in person. These small oil paintings look great framed up and placed in a small space on their own, or on a wall with several other small paintings.

I painted this one really quickly today, and it came out nice and warm. It shows backlit yellow flowers stretching up to a warm sky. Here is another flower painting.

White blossoms from the back yard. I like the translucence that came through in the green soda bottle. Oil on mounted canvas, 6×8″.

“Weeds”, as the neighbor kids call them. They look like black-eyed susans to me, and they are growing in huge numbers in empty lots around here. They’re very pretty. This painting came out a bit mushy, but the colors are vibrant and I’m happy with the bottle. I think this was too big of a canvas for my short painting time. Oil on mounted canvas, approx 14×9″.

I really liked the way these flowers have started spraying over the side of the vase. The colors are much nicer in the actual painting – I need to spend some time setting up a photo area, but it’s hard to take the time away from painting… – see other still life oil paintings
