I really liked the late afternoon yellow glow on this town. This scene reminded me of tuscan hillside paintings with all the roof tops, but with middle-American houses.

We go by this house and tree when we drive the back way home. I thought the red tree with the faint treed mountain in the background was beautiful.

This is one of the many trees at the U-Pick farm. We went a few weeks ago, but the peaches weren’t ready yet… But my son got to ride a horse and a pony, so it was worth the drive.

I think this is one of my best paintings so far. I’m so happy with this little painting that I’m planning to do a really big one of the same subject.

My son and my mom and her dogs and I went for several walks ‘on the mountain,’ and every time we drove back down I was taken by this scene with a barn-house and these beautiful colors.

I did a fair amount of rearranging elements for artistic reasons – mostly in the mountains. I am really happy with the design elements in this painting – the receding green-blue-aqua-blue violet colors as well as the bare land that repeats in the foreground and on that first mountain. I am really happy with this painting!

On the drive home from my mom’s house a few weeks ago, we passed this area of farmland, where I could just see the striped area behind the near hills. I really enjoy striped farmlands for some reason.

With this painting I tried out water soluble oil paints, again. It felt a little like painting with gouache. I like some of the qualities of this paint – the vibrancy, and something I can’t really put my finger on. But it will definitely take some getting used to.

This is a little piece of Eastern Washington, off I-90, in the dusk. You can see the sun shining through the tops of the trees, and the green and red colors of the shadowed field. Even though there isn’t much sky up there, this painting is about light in the sky.

I was jury-accepted into the Little Spokane River Artist Studio Tour, which will be on September 25, 2010. It’s a talented group of artists; I’m excited that they accepted me. I’ll post more about that as it gets closer.

I went for a walk with my son by this winding river, which was sometimes obscured by the trees and sometimes visible. It was beautiful with the spring colors.(#3329)

On the way home the clouds and wind were amazing. When we stopped at a rest stop and opened up the truck door, it almost flew off. I wanted to capture that rain cloud and the atmospheric effect. This has some of the same colors as Orcas Island II in the mountains…
